Volunteer Opportunities

Backpack Preparation

2-4 hours monthly

Join our core mission by helping to assemble backpacks filled with essential items. This involves sorting donations, packing supplies, and adding personal notes of encouragement.

What You'll Do:

  • Sort and organize donated items
  • Pack backpacks with care and attention
  • Write encouraging notes to recipients
  • Quality check completed backpacks

Distribution & Outreach

3-5 hours monthly

Be the face of Touch of Terra by distributing backpacks directly to those in need. This role involves compassionate interaction and connecting people with additional resources.

What You'll Do:

  • Distribute backpacks in designated areas
  • Engage respectfully with recipients
  • Provide information about local services
  • Document impact for our records

Event Support

4-8 hours per event

Help organize and run fundraising events, community education workshops, and awareness campaigns. Perfect for those who enjoy event planning and public engagement.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown
  • Welcome and engage with attendees
  • Help with registration and materials
  • Support speakers and presentations

Advocacy & Education

Flexible schedule

Join our advocacy efforts by helping with research, community education, and policy initiatives. Ideal for those passionate about systemic change and social justice.

What You'll Do:

  • Research homelessness issues and solutions
  • Help create educational materials
  • Attend community meetings
  • Support policy advocacy efforts

Digital & Marketing

2-6 hours monthly

Use your creative and technical skills to help spread our message. Manage social media, create content, design graphics, or help with our website and digital presence.

  • Manage social media accounts

Administrative Support

3-5 hours monthly

Help keep Touch of Terra running smoothly with behind-the-scenes support. Perfect for those who are organized, detail-oriented, and want to contribute valuable operational help.

Volunteer FAQ

Not at all! We welcome volunteers of all experience levels. We provide orientation and training for all our volunteer roles, and our experienced team members are always available to help guide new volunteers.

We appreciate any time you can offer! Some volunteers help for just a few hours a month, while others are involved weekly. We work with your schedule to find volunteer opportunities that fit your availability.

We welcome volunteers aged 16 and up. Volunteers under 18 need parent/guardian consent and may have some restrictions on certain activities for safety reasons. We also love having family volunteer groups!

Yes! All new volunteers receive an orientation that covers our mission, safety protocols, and specific training for their chosen volunteer role. We also provide ongoing support and additional training opportunities throughout the year.

Absolutely! We love working with corporate groups, service organizations, faith communities, and student groups. Group volunteering is a great team-building activity that makes a real difference in our community.

Volunteer safety is our top priority. We provide safety training, work in teams, have clear protocols for all activities, and maintain communication with volunteers during outreach activities. We also provide any necessary safety equipment.
